Home of the Champions - 2 Disc Set
United Tribes International Powwow
This 35th Anniversary CD is a retrospective of some of the finest moments of the United Tribes International Powwow selected from Makoche Recording Company's archive of over 200 hours of live recordings of the Powwow over the past decade. Powwows were originally held in the spring to celebrate new life. Today, the Powwow season lasts all year. People gather to sing, dance, renew old friendships, and make new ones. Powwows are still very much a part of Native American Culture. Many families pick up and travel the circuit, camp out, enjoy the traditional, celebrate and reaffirm a way of life. This is a 2-CD set and also includes an Enhanced CD feature (PC only): "Home of the Champions" video about the history of the United Tribes Powwow and historical recordings made in 1915 by Dr. Orin Grant Libby. These are some of the earliest known recordings and include songs that were known to have been sung at the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1876.
