Desert Dance
Desert Dance is my ritual about the everchanging beauty of the San Luis valley and the rain-laden sweep of clouds over Crestone and Lindisfarne in the late summer season of 1989. This improvisational session, like SUNDANCE SEASON, was hinted at in the beginning and became a personal reality as the day progressed. The Lindisfarne Chapel, the site for DESERT DANCE and SUNDACE SEASON, is situated withing the San Luis valley, the world's largest alpine valley at 8,000 ft. above sea level, 100 miles long and 60 miles wide. Surrounded by the Saguache range, the Continental Divide, and the Sangre de Cristos and San Juan Mountains, the valley is sacred ground to the many tribes who have inhabited it over time.
