Fred E Miller: Photographer of the Crows
In 1993, shortly after we published our first catalog, we found a very small quantity of this excellent book. At the time, it was out of print, and we sold all of our copies within a few months. It was one of the fastest selling books we ever had. When we learned that there were still copies of this book available, we were very pleased. We are very excited to offer this book to you again. These are first edition, original pressings and not a reprint. Check some of the used book listings on the internet. These are selling for more than $200. You can get it here for its original price. Here's the text we originally wrote in 1993: Fred E. Miller was a clerk on the Crow reservation in Montana from 1898 to 1910. He was also a professional photographer whose ability equaled and perhaps exceeded that of Curtis, Barry, Anderson, and other photographers of the Plains. Miller lived on the reservation among the Crows and was adopted into the tribe. Unlike many photographers of that time, Miller didn't pose his subjects in the studio. Instead he photographed them much like you would take snapshots of a family gathering. The result is a collection of natural poses of unparalleled quality. This volume contains a wonderful selection of prints documenting Crow life.
