Mato Hota
A Lakota Musical Excursion
While seemingly improbable, Frederick Whiteface has successfully mixed traditional Lakota singing and drumming with the saxophone creating a jazz sound you just have to hear to believe. Fred's Indian name is Mato Hota (Gray Bear) and with this recording he fulfills a lifelong dream of encompassing Lakota music forms in a jazz idiom.
